Product Description
Size & Placement at a Glance
Where it goes
Install above or beside the mirror for even face lighting. Bar length should be about 75% of the mirror width; mount the center 78″ from the floor for most adults.
Getting the Size Right
Dimensions matter for every lighting type. Check the full Dimensions & Size specs above against your space before ordering.
- Hanging fixtures: for a dining table, hang the bottom of the fixture 30–36″ above the table. In an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of floor clearance.
- Chandelier diameter: a common starting point is room length (ft) + room width (ft) = fixture diameter in inches.
- Vanity & sconces: mount sconces about eye level (60–66″) and size vanity lights to roughly 75% of the mirror width.
- Outdoor: confirm the fixture’s wet/damp rating and that its scale suits the exterior wall or ceiling — outdoor fixtures often need to read larger.
Bathroom Fixtures — Frequently Asked Questions
A good rule is the fixture width should be at least 75% of the mirror width and never wider than the mirror itself. For a 36-inch mirror, look for a bar or bath light in the 28–36 inch range. Side sconces should sit roughly at eye level, about 65–70 inches from the floor.
Damp-rated fixtures are approved for humid areas like a bathroom with a shower, but not where water sprays directly. Wet-rated fixtures can be mounted where water hits them directly, such as inside a shower stall or over a tub in a splash zone. Always match the UL/ETL location rating to where you plan to install.
Finish names are not standardized across manufacturers. One brand's "Brushed Nickel" may read warmer or cooler than another's because plating formulas, base metals, and lacquer coats differ. Order samples or stick to one brand for all bathroom fixtures when a perfect match matters.
For grooming and makeup, 3000K–3500K (soft white to neutral white) is most flattering and shows skin tones accurately. Cooler 4000K+ can feel clinical; warmer 2700K can cast a yellow tint that hides blemishes but also hides blending mistakes.
Only if local code and the fixture's listing allow it. Many jurisdictions require a minimum clearance above the tub rim (often 8 feet to the bottom of the fixture) and a damp or wet rating depending on placement. When in doubt, use a wet-rated recessed light or sconces on the wall instead.
Some include bulbs; many do not — check "Bulbs Included" on the product page. For LED, focus on lumens (800–1600 lm per fixture for a vanity) rather than old incandescent watt equivalents. Match the socket type (E26, G9, etc.) and voltage (120V in the US) listed on the spec sheet.
Center the fixture roughly 75–80 inches from the floor, or about 6 inches above the mirror top for most standard installations. If the fixture has downward-facing shades, mounting too high creates shadows under your eyes — lower is often better for task lighting.
No — bathrooms require damp- or wet-rated fixtures in most zones. A dry-location fixture in a humid bathroom can corrode, fail prematurely, and may violate electrical code. Look for "Damp Location" or "Wet Location" in the Safety Rating field.
Large mirror-light combinations and heavy bath bars often ship freight (LTL). Freight items may require a liftgate service if you cannot unload a pallet from a truck. Check the Estimated Ship Date and shipping method on the product page before ordering.
Yes, if the fixture and bulbs are dimmer-compatible. LED fixtures need an LED-compatible dimmer (trailing edge or ELV for many brands). Integrated LED fixtures will note dimmer compatibility on the spec sheet — using the wrong dimmer causes flicker or buzzing.
