Size & Placement at a Glance
Center 5–6″ above vanity backsplash
Where it goes
Mount above a vanity or on any wall where you need reflection and light. Width should match or slightly narrow the vanity below; height sets how much of your torso you see.
Center the mirror 5–6″ above the backsplash, or align with window centerline.
Getting the Size Right
Dimensions matter for every lighting type. Check the full Dimensions & Size specs above against your space before ordering.
- Hanging fixtures: for a dining table, hang the bottom of the fixture 30–36″ above the table. In an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of floor clearance.
- Chandelier diameter: a common starting point is room length (ft) + room width (ft) = fixture diameter in inches.
- Vanity & sconces: mount sconces about eye level (60–66″) and size vanity lights to roughly 75% of the mirror width.
- Outdoor: confirm the fixture’s wet/damp rating and that its scale suits the exterior wall or ceiling — outdoor fixtures often need to read larger.

Mirrors — Frequently Asked Questions
Mirror width should match or slightly narrow than the vanity — typically 2–4 inches less on each side than the countertop width. Height depends on ceiling and user — 30–36 inches tall is common above a standard vanity.
Framed mirrors add style and protect edges — coordinate frame finish with vanity hardware. Frameless (polished edge) looks modern and is easier to clean at edges. Both work with side sconces or overhead bath bars.
Mirrors over 20 lbs need anchors into studs or heavy-duty toggle anchors rated for the weight. Use mirror clips or J-channel rated for size. Never rely on plain drywall screws for large plate-glass mirrors — safety risk.
Integrated LED mirrors for bathrooms should list damp-location rating. The LED driver and outlets must be protected from direct water spray. Not all decorative mirrors with LEDs are wet-rated — check Safety Rating for shower-adjacent installs.
Many offer 3000K–4000K switchable or fixed 3000K for grooming. Front-lit mirrors reduce shadows on the face. CRI 90+ is best for makeup application — check spec if color accuracy matters.
Standard mirror glass has a slight green tint from iron content on thick edges. High-quality low-iron mirrors look clearer and more expensive — spec may say "copper-free" or "low iron." Edge finish affects visible tint.
Most include clips, brackets, or cleats — verify weight rating. Large mirrors may require professional installation. LED mirrors need electrical connection — hardwire or plug-in depending on model.
No — cutting or drilling voids warranty and risks shattering tempered or standard mirror glass. Order custom sizes from the manufacturer when non-standard dimensions are needed.
Large plate mirrors ship freight in reinforced crates — curbside delivery. Inspect glass for chips and cracks before signing. Do not stand large mirrors unattended during unpack — tip-over injury risk.
Frame finishes (brass, chrome, matte black) follow the same cross-brand variation as lighting. Order mirror and vanity light from one collection when possible. Frameless mirrors coordinate with any fixture finish.
