Product Description

The beauty of finely wrought porcelain shows through in our Hanni Table Lamp. The surface of the white lamp has been decorated with brushstrokes in an elegant shade of navy blue. The optic crystal base and the nickel finish on the hardware add to the luminosity of this lamp that it is topped with an off-white shantung drum shade.

Where it goes

For reading, the bottom of the shade should sit near eye level when seated. Scale shade width and height to the table or floor space.

Bulbs & LED Guide

Is this fixture LED?

Choosing the right bulb

  • Base / socket: match the base ( E26 when listed in specs). Common bases include E26 (standard medium), E12 (candelabra), and GU10.
  • Color temperature: 2700K–3000K is warm/inviting; 3500K–4000K is neutral; 5000K+ is daylight.
  • Dimming: use bulbs labeled dimmable with a compatible LED dimmer to avoid flicker.
  • Brightness: compare lumens, not watts — an 800-lumen LED replaces a 60W incandescent.

A note on tubes, ballasts & built-in LED

Linear shop and lay-in fixtures that use long tubular lamps (T8/T12) may rely on a ballast. Converting these to LED can require a ballast-bypass or a ballast-compatible tube. Decorative residential fixtures don’t use ballasts — their sockets accept LED bulbs directly, unless the fixture is integrated LED (no replaceable bulb).

Getting the Size Right

Dimensions matter for every lighting type. Check the full Dimensions & Size specs above against your space before ordering.

  • Hanging fixtures: for a dining table, hang the bottom of the fixture 30–36″ above the table. In an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of floor clearance.
  • Chandelier diameter: a common starting point is room length (ft) + room width (ft) = fixture diameter in inches.
  • Vanity & sconces: mount sconces about eye level (60–66″) and size vanity lights to roughly 75% of the mirror width.
  • Outdoor: confirm the fixture’s wet/damp rating and that its scale suits the exterior wall or ceiling — outdoor fixtures often need to read larger.

Lamps — Frequently Asked Questions

The bottom of the lampshade should be roughly at eye level when seated (about 58–64 inches from the floor). The total lamp height is often 27–34 inches for sofa tables and 28–30 inches for bedside tables, depending on your furniture height.

The shade height should be about three-quarters of the base height, and the shade width roughly equal to the base height. When seated, you should not see the bulb — only the shade glow. Many lamps ship with a matched shade; replacement shades must fit the harp and socket size.

Color temperature (Kelvin) describes warmth. 2700K is warm and cozy (bedrooms, living rooms). 3000K is neutral (offices, reading). 4000K+ is cool daylight (task work). For reading lamps, 3000K with 800+ lumens reduces eye strain.

Only if the socket type and max wattage allow it. Match the base (E26 medium, E12 candelabra, etc.) and do not exceed the lamp's maximum wattage rating even though LEDs draw less power. Some vintage lamps with inline dimmers need LED-compatible bulbs to avoid flicker.

Each brand develops its own plating and powder-coat formulas. "Antique Brass" from one maker may be redder or more muted than another's. If matching existing hardware, buy lamps and fixtures from the same brand and finish code when possible.

Most table and floor lamps ship as a complete unit. Some designer lines sell bases and shades separately for customization. Check the product listing — shade material, diameter, and whether a bulb is included vary by SKU.

Watts measure power draw; lumens measure light output. A 60W-equivalent LED uses about 8–10 watts but produces ~800 lumens. For reading, target 450–800 lumens directed where you need it. Ignore wattage equivalents and compare lumens instead.

Table and floor lamps plug into the wall — use a plug-in dimmer or a smart bulb with dimming built in. Ensure the bulb is dimmable and the dimmer is LED-compatible. Touch-dimmer lamps have dimming built into the base.

Most table lamps require minimal assembly (attach shade, install bulb). Floor lamps may need the pole sections screwed together. Large or fragile designer lamps may ship freight with extra packaging — check Estimated Ship Date and carton count on the product page.

A task lamp with an adjustable arm and 3000K–4000K color temperature reduces glare on screens. Look for 450–800 lumens, a stable base, and a shade that directs light downward. Swing-arm wall lamps save desk space if table depth is limited.
