Size & Placement at a Glance
Where it goes
Right-sized for standard dining rooms and bedrooms. Hang 30–36″ above a table or center in the room with adequate clearance.
Getting the Size Right
Dimensions matter for every lighting type. Check the full Dimensions & Size specs above against your space before ordering.
- Hanging fixtures: for a dining table, hang the bottom of the fixture 30–36″ above the table. In an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of floor clearance.
- Chandelier diameter: a common starting point is room length (ft) + room width (ft) = fixture diameter in inches.
- Vanity & sconces: mount sconces about eye level (60–66″) and size vanity lights to roughly 75% of the mirror width.
- Outdoor: confirm the fixture’s wet/damp rating and that its scale suits the exterior wall or ceiling — outdoor fixtures often need to read larger.

Mid. Chandeliers — Frequently Asked Questions
Medium chandeliers (roughly 20–28 inches diameter) work well in dining rooms 10×12 to 14×16 feet, large bedrooms, and compact two-story foyers. If the fixture looks small in product photos, check the Width and Height specs — scale is hard to judge online.
Bottom of the fixture 30–36 inches above the table top for 8-foot ceilings. Raise 3 inches per foot of additional ceiling height. The fixture should not block eye contact across the table — guests should see each other over or around it.
Yes — many homeowners replace ceiling fans or flush mounts with a medium chandelier for ambiance. Ensure the box is rated for the weight and the fixture is on a dimmer. Keep bottom clearance at least 7 feet above the floor if it is over the bed foot path.
Check for a sloped-ceiling adapter or swivel canopy in the spec sheet. Without one, the chain hangs at an angle. Many mid-size chandeliers offer adapters as an accessory — order it with the fixture to avoid a return trip.
Commonly candelabra (E12) or medium (E26). Count sockets and multiply per-bulb lumens for total output. LED bulbs reduce heat and energy use. Match max wattage per socket — exceeding it voids warranty and creates a fire risk even with LEDs.
Different brands, ages, and product lines use different finish recipes. Even "Chrome" varies in blueness. For remodels, replace pairs (both hallway sconces, both bedroom lights) or buy within one collection for guaranteed matching.
Only if total height (fixture plus minimum chain) fits. Look for "compact" or close-to-ceiling mounting options. A medium chandelier in a 7.5-foot ceiling room may hang too low — semi-flush or flush mount may be safer.
If replacing an existing fixture on a properly rated box, a confident DIYer can swap it. New wiring, box upgrades, or heavy fixtures should be done by a licensed electrician. Always turn off the breaker and verify power is off before working.
2700K–3000K creates warm, inviting light for dining. 3500K reads cleaner for modern spaces. Consistent temperature across all bulbs matters — mixed bulbs look uneven. Dimmable warm-white LEDs are the most versatile choice.
Most ship parcel in one or two boxes. Heavier crystal or multi-tier models may ship freight. Assembly (attaching arms, shades, bulbs) is usually required. Check Estimated Ship Date for special finishes.
