Size & Placement at a Glance

Ceiling Length 12.25 H 16 Island / counter 30–36″ above surface
Check the full Dimensions & Size specs above before ordering.

Where it goes

Runs parallel above a kitchen island or long dining table. Bar length should be roughly two-thirds of the surface below; hang 30–36″ above the counter.

Getting the Size Right

Dimensions matter for every lighting type. Check the full Dimensions & Size specs above against your space before ordering.

  • Hanging fixtures: for a dining table, hang the bottom of the fixture 30–36″ above the table. In an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of floor clearance.
  • Chandelier diameter: a common starting point is room length (ft) + room width (ft) = fixture diameter in inches.
  • Vanity & sconces: mount sconces about eye level (60–66″) and size vanity lights to roughly 75% of the mirror width.
  • Outdoor: confirm the fixture’s wet/damp rating and that its scale suits the exterior wall or ceiling — outdoor fixtures often need to read larger.

Linear/Island — Frequently Asked Questions

The fixture length should be roughly ½ to ⅔ the island length, centered above. A 6-foot island typically suits a 36–48 inch linear fixture. For long islands (8+ feet), two smaller pendants or a multi-light linear bar often look better than one oversized unit.

Bottom of the fixture 30–36 inches above the countertop for 8-foot ceilings. Add 3 inches for each additional foot of ceiling height. High enough to clear sight lines across the island, low enough to illuminate the work surface without glare.

Target 3000–6000 lumens for a primary prep and dining surface. Task-focused islands need brighter output; islands used mainly for seating can be dimmer. Layer with under-cabinet lighting so the linear fixture does not have to do all the work.

Most linear fixtures require a level ceiling — the bar will not hang straight if the canopy is tilted. Some models offer sloped adapters; otherwise use adjustable pendants on a sloped canopy or mount to the flat portion of a ceiling.

Integrated LED has built-in diodes with a rated lifespan (often 30,000–50,000 hours) and fixed output. Socketed models accept replaceable bulbs (G9, E26, etc.) for flexibility but need periodic bulb changes. Check dimmer compatibility for either type.

Matte Black and Aged Brass are not standardized — undertones vary warm vs. cool. Kitchens with mixed metals are popular, but if you want a uniform look, stay within one manufacturer's finish system for island, pendants, and sconces.

Yes, if the fixture and bulbs (if socketed) are dimmer-compatible. Kitchen islands benefit from dimming for evening entertaining. Use an LED-compatible dimmer — standard incandescent dimmers often cause flicker with LED linear fixtures.

Integrated LED models do not use separate bulbs. Socketed linear fixtures may or may not include bulbs — check Bulbs Included. Note bulb type (often G9 or E26), max wattage, and whether bulbs must be purchased separately.

Two fixtures can share one circuit if total load is within circuit capacity. Center each over its zone (prep vs. seating). Use a single dimmer only if combined wattage and dimmer rating allow — otherwise use separate switches or a multi-location dimmer.

Linear fixtures up to 48 inches often ship parcel; longer or heavier bars may ship freight. Cartons are reinforced but still inspect for bent frames or cracked diffusers on arrival. Estimated Ship Date reflects made-to-order finishes.
